Hope Education Trust’s Projects
Hope Education Trust supports AIDS education projects, including some in South Africa and Cambodia.

South Africa has the world’s single largest population of HIV infected people. Cambodia has the most severe HIV epidemic in Asia.

In both countries the Trustees of Hope Education Trust have carefully selected (following a vetting process carried out at their own expense) community based projects working effectively in the field of AIDS prevention through education. A Trustee has travelled to those countries to meet face to face with the leaders and managers of the projects to be supported.

As a result of this vetting process the trustees are confident that funds raised will be effectively used in fighting the spread of AIDS, for example - by paying the salaries of local AIDS Education Officers. These officers will be employed on a full time basis to teach HIV/AIDS prevention to their communities. Local managers of these projects have agreed appropriate feedback procedures with the Trustees to ensure ongoing delivery of quality AIDS Education services.

Our hope is that the success seen in Uganda through AIDS education programmes (8.3% of adults infected with HIV in 1999 reduced to 5% in 2001) will also be seen in South Africa and Cambodia. The trustees wish to contribute towards the achievement of that goal.
